Notice of changes

At the Memphremagog Food Bank, we respect your right to privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information. We are committed to protecting your personal information and using it only for the purposes for which it was collected. We want you to know for what purposes and in what ways we collect personal information, and how it is stored, used and disclosed.

The Privacy Policy applies to all personal information collected by the Memphremagog Food Bank from the Memphremagog Food Bank website (https://www.banquealimentaire.ca/, hereinafter referred to as the "Site") (the "Policy"). The Policy is subject to Quebec's privacy legislation, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (ARPPIPS), as well as other applicable legislative and regulatory provisions.

Applicable laws

The Policy complies with the laws set out in the ARPPIPS Act.

For residents of other Canadian provinces, the specific law of your province will apply or, in the absence of a specific law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Cookies and Google Analytics

The Memphremagog Food Bank uses Google Analytics, a web analytics tool. Google Analytics automatically collects information about your use of the website in order to generate statistics and reports that help us improve our electronic service delivery.

This tool collects information about:

  • the web pages visited
  • date, time and duration of visits
  • frequency of visits and links clicked
  • type of operating system (Windows, Mac, IOS, Android, etc.),
  • language used
  • geographic region
  • type of browser used
  • your IP address, but this is modified by Google Analytics to prevent identification of the user.

This information is collected in the form of cookies, which are stored on external servers. Google Analytics may share this information with accounts linked to Google.

Personal information collected non-automatically

By visiting and using the Site, we may collect and save the information below when you perform certain functions:

  • business and/or personal contact information, such as first name, last name, date of birth, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone numbers;
  • proof of income, expenses and dependent children;
  • Site usage and other technical information, such as details of visits, your interaction with our advertising and online content, or information collected through cookies and other tracking technologies.

This personal information may be collected using the following methods:

  • when you apply to become a volunteer, member or partner;
  • when you contact us with a question or comment;
  • When you sign up for our e-mail newsletter;
  • When you request food assistance or a Christmas basket.

Use of personal information

Personal information collected on our Site will be used only for the purposes specified in the Policy or as indicated on the relevant pages of our Site. We do not use your information beyond what we disclose.

The information collected is used by the Memphremagog Food Bank for the following purposes:

  • To facilitate the use of our Web site and to ensure that the content is relevant, and to ensure that the content of our Web site is presented in the most effective manner for you and your device;
  • To enable us to process requests for food assistance or Christmas baskets, to become a member, partner or volunteer, and to assess whether an individual meets the requirements for employment with the Memphremagog Food Bank;
  • To enable us to communicate with you if we have any questions or comments;
  • To prevent and investigate possible security breaches of our Site or activities that may be prohibited or illegal.

How we use your personal information

We may disclose your personal information to any member of our organization or a member of a community organization that distributes Christmas baskets and requires access to user data to achieve the purposes set out in the Policy. Only our intervention team has access to beneficiaries' financial data (proof of income and expenses).

In addition, the service providers we use may have access to your personal data. These third-party providers collect, store, use, process and transfer information about your activity on our service in accordance with their privacy policies.

Website analysis

We may use third-party service providers to monitor and analyze the use of our service.

Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the data collected to contextualize and personalize ads on its own advertising network.

You can choose not to have your activity on the Service made available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics deactivation browser add-on. The add-on prevents Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visit activity.

E-mail marketing

We may use your personal data to send you e-mail newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may choose not to receive any or all of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any e-mail we send or by contacting us.

We use Cyberimpact as our e-mail marketing service provider to manage and send e-mails to you.

Usage, performance and miscellaneous

We may use third-party service providers to maintain and improve our service.

Prodon (by Logilys)

We use Logilys as a service provider to manage and send you tax receipts.

Donors

We may use your personal data to send you tax receipts by e-mail or post. In addition, we may use your personal data to send you e-mail newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt-out of receiving some or all of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any e-mail or postal mail we send or by contacting us.

Beneficiaries

We may use your personal data to e-mail you information about your next food assistance appointment, the date of your financial assessment and the document that helps you prepare for your financial assessment. With your signed information exchange authorization, we may use your personal data to transmit information to an external specialist.

Other disclosures

We are committed not to sell or disclose your personal information to third parties, except in the following cases:

  • if required by law;
  • if required to comply with a court order or similar legal action;
  • to prove and protect our legal rights;
  • in order to reorganize or change our organization - if we undertake a reorganization (for example, by merging, consolidating or divesting part of our organization's mission), we may need to transfer some or all personal information to an applicable third party (or its advisors) as part of any due diligence process or transfer to such reorganized entity or third party for the same purposes as set out in this Privacy Policy or for the purpose of analyzing any proposed reorganization. In such a situation, we will take all possible steps to ensure the protection and security of personal information.

Our Site contains links to other sites such as the Zeffy online donation platform, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube social media.
