The Media Guignolée doubles the stakes in Memphrémagog

The population of the Memphrémagog MRC has responded so far to fill the coffers of the special edition of the Guignolée des médias.

The December 10 results put the monetary harvest at nearly $28,000, double the amount raised last year by volunteers stationed in the streets of Magog.

Media Guignolée spokeswoman Claudine Roussel emphasizes the generosity of people, even if donations are not made on public roads this year. Donations came from all over the MRC, ranging from $10 to $100, $500 and even $1,000," she applauds. Well-to-do people also answered the call, which is very interesting for a region where wealth and poverty exist side by side, especially in these times of health crisis."

This amount will even be increased, as the campaign will run until December 24. Desjardins will also double the amount donated via the La Ruche platform.

All donations will go to the Memphrémagog Food Bank (BAM), which will oversee the distribution of Christmas hampers to vulnerable families in the MRC.

Speaking of BAM, its local Christmas basket campaign raised close to $12,000. This amount was calculated as part of the results of this year's Guignolée des médias.

The vast Eastern Townships and Bois-Francs region had raised a total of $269,000 at the time of writing. "We can already say that we'll raise more money than last year," promises Ms. Roussel.

You can donate online at guignolée.ca, on the La Ruche platform and at Guignolée friends (Provigo, Maxi, Jean Coutu and Via Capitale).
