The Food Bank served 700 families

BALANCE SHEET. 1300 people from 700 families have benefited from the services of the Memphrémagog Food Bank (BAM) over the past year, according to the most recent report presented by the Magog-based organization.

These figures were unveiled on June 15 at BAM's Annual General Meeting. The directors took the opportunity to thank their twenty or so suppliers, who donated 145,824 kilos of foodstuffs over the past 12 months.

And a special word of thanks to the 50 or so volunteers who gave over 2,400 hours of their time to support the team of employees, particularly at the warehouse and the social grocery store.

Among the projects developed by the Food Bank during the period under review, we should mention the supermarket recovery program, which took place in collaboration with Magog's Métro Plus Plouffe.

The "Départ Canon" project was also highlighted. This new service aims to serve families with children aged 0 to 5 by offering them two food aid distributions a month. The initiative was launched by the C-18 cohort (22 entrepreneurs) of the École d'entrepreneurship de Beauce, and benefited from a socio-financing campaign that raised $121,000, more than double the initial objective ($50,000).
