AGM Press Release

MAGOG, July 7, 2022 - At its Annual General Meeting held on June 29, the Board of Directors of the Memphremagog Food Bank (MFB) presented its annual report to its members. The organization has maintained its efforts in terms of healthy operations and quality of service to its members in 2021-2022 and has continued its actions of continuous improvement of its processes.

The members of the Board of Directors, the permanent employees and the many volunteers have continued to focus on concrete and human actions in order to pursue its mission. The BAM would like to thank all the people who were involved in any way in its various activities.

BAM has seen an influx of calls for food assistance in 2021-2022. Indeed, the galloping inflation which affects more particularly housing, food and transportation, very important items of expenditure in a family budget, has precipitated many households towards new economic difficulties. Fortunately, we have been able to count on our many partners to respond to this large number of calls for food aid.

The Supermarket Recovery Program (SRP) has expanded this year with the arrival of Provigo Le Marché. This has allowed us to increase the amount of recovered food that we can give to our users. We thank them warmly for their support.

In addition, the launch of the Départ Canon project, sponsored by the C-18 cohort of the École d'Entrepreneurship de Beauce (EEB) was an important moment for our organization this year. Not only did they set up a fundraising campaign to create and ensure the sustainability of the project dedicated to families with children between the ages of 0 and 5, but they were also able to help us renovate the interior of our premises to optimize our operations. Whether it is the floor of the warehouse, the shelves of the social grocery store, or the compressors for our freezers and refrigerators that have been improved and moved outside.

Finally, the BAM would like to thank all of its financial partners, goods and services, its generous donors and the CIUSSS-CHUS de l'Estrie for the support they have provided throughout the year.
